Changes to GED Skids

Several changes are being made to the mid-size gasoline powered skids with the 126 foot coil. The models that are effected by this change are:
- 4405E
- 4405EB
- 4405G
- 5305EA
- 5305EB
- 5355J
- 5355JB
Some of the changes that are taking place are as follows:
- Skid frames on all models will be made the same width as the 5355J, which is 34 inches. The other models were 30 inches wide. There are three reasons for the change:
- To change from the low mount muffler on the Vanguard engine to a canister muffler that fits on top of the engine, which is more quiet.
- We have had some complaints on the units with generators overheating. These are the generators with the low mount muffler; this will eliminate the problem by moving the muffler up.
- With a larger area for the generator, we are able to use a larger capacity generator. The new units will feature a Volt Master 3000 watt generator with 2 receptacles & voltmeter (Alkota #F05-00102). The units formerly had Alkota #F05-00112, a 2000 watt Winco.
- We were able to make the gas and fuel tanks larger in the new frame. The fuel tank is 9.5 gallons (up from 8.5 gallons). The gas tank is now 6 gallons (up from 2.7 gallons).
- Engine and pump oil drains an all models.
- Three-way valves have replaced the two ball valves on the float tank outlet.
- On the generator models, we are using a three-groove pulley on the engine to make pulley alignment easier.
- The 4405G, 4405E, 4405EB, 5305EA and 5305EB may feature new pump manufacturers and/or models as we work to find the best pumps for each unit.
- Vanguard engines have been restyled for better air movement through the shroud for better cooling.
Because of the major changes to some models, the model numbers and part numbers have also changed. They are as follows:
- 4405G will become 4405GA
- 4405E will become 4405EA
- 4405EB will become 4405EBA
- 5305EA will become 5305EAA
- 5305EB will become 5305EBA
- 5355J and 5355JB will stay the same
Add -000000 to the end of the model number for the correct Alkota part numbers.
