So far this article series has showcased our standard offering of mobile cleaning solutions. This included smaller systems such as our detail, pallet, and standard single axle trailer, followed by our larger tandem axle units. All are excellent systems with many great features and options for mobile cleaning applications.
However, in addition to our selection of standard units we have engineered many custom mobile solutions to meet individual customer specifications. I have been personally involved with most of these custom trailer projects as a member of our Engineering team, and it has been very exciting to see these requests for custom equipment turn into fantastic solutions designed, engineered, and fabricated right here at Alkota. I have selected a sample of projects that highlights our engineering capabilities and over the next few weeks will show you some of these great custom units.
This week I have chosen two unique trailers designed for military customers. Each trailer was built to meet detailed customer specifications and as you can see from the images they are very different units from each other.
"HUMVEE" TRAILER
One of the most impressive trailer systems we have built, this unit is designed to follow the track of a U.S. Military Humvee. It has an extremely heavy duty frame with lifting hooks on the corners. The trailer rides high on 16.5LT Goodyear Wrangler tires with steel rims, 8 on 6.5", and ground clearance is maximized through the use of Torflex Axles.
I think you will agree this is a beautiful trailer system. We were honored to design and construct this unit in both 2003 and 2005.
- Wide body design (54" wide) accommodates a large pressure washer
- Heavy duty tubular steel frame with lifting eyes
- 2" x 4" x 1/4" outer frame
- 2" x 4" x 3/16" cross members
- 3" x 4" x 3/16" center beam
- 12 gauge diamond plate fenders (Jeep style)
- Tandem Torflex axles (#11 - 4000 to 6000 lbs.)
- Surge brakes with DA10 actuator
- Adjustable pintle eye hitch
- 2000# jack with sand foot
- Safety chains with hooks
- 16.5LT Goodyear Wrangler tires on steel rims (8 on 6.5")
- 330 gallon water tank with 8" lid and rim vented, in cage
- 24 volt electrical system with blackout capabilities for running and tail lights
- Powder coated Dark Military Green
"DESERT SAND" TRAILER
Obviously designed for use in desert environments, a pair of these trailers were built for deployment into the Persian Gulf region to wash active duty helicopters. These are significantly sized units capable of carrying a large pressure washer, 535 gallons of water, and 52 gallons of cleaning chemicals. These are also great looking systems and bring considerable cleaning power into the field for our troops.
- Wide body design (54" wide) accommodates a large pressure washer
- Heavy duty 2" x 3" x 11 gauge tubular steel frame with lifting eyes
- Tandem heavy duty 6,000# straight axles
- Surge brakes with DA10 actuator
- Adjustable pintle eye hitch
- Safety chains with hooks
- 225/75/R15 tires, 6 on 5.5" with spare
- 535 gallon water tank with 11 gauge straps and a 16" vented lid and rim
- Dual 26 gallon chemical tanks with a SHURflo pump
- 4 rear mounted hose reels (3 high pressure and 1 inlet water)
- 14 gauge toolbox with lockable latch and gas struts for ease of opening
- Parts package included inside the toolbox
- Powder coated Desert Tan with matching water and chemical tanks
As you can see our engineering and fabrication capabilities go well beyond our standard units when it comes to mobile cleaning solutions. We are very proud of these trailers designed and constructed for U.S. Military customers and look forward to developing more solutions for the military in the future.
For those of you who do not need to take a trailer system into battle, please join us again next week as I highlight another set of custom trailers built for municipal customers here in the States.
